Additional Unit Guidance for the NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Namings and Couples Celebrancy

To complete your Diploma you will need to answer each question in full as you work through each module in the Learning Portal.

Word counts are provided as a guide only, to steer the level of detail/depth you need to provide for your answer. You could write less and still cover the key points required or you could write more and miss a key requirement.

Celebrant / Client Video Role-Play

As well as your written answer, please submit a video role-play between yourself and a Naming or Couple’s Ceremony Client.

You are the celebrant interviewing the client about their ceremony.

The video duration should be a maximum of 30 minutes.

Your interview should be focused on planning and preparation for the ceremony.

In particular, you will need to include/demonstrate the key Learning Outcomes highlighted below:

UNIT 6

2. Be able to advise clients regarding their choice of appropriate ceremony enhancements.

2.1. Demonstrate methods of advising clients regarding the choice and impact of key ceremony enhancements.

Consider:

• How you would explain and present the options to the client?
• What your part is in the discussion
• What are you expecting them to know/decide
• How do you present and discuss options with clients for specific ceremonies

(Include a short discussion of an appropriate ‘enhancement’ in your client interview video to be submitted)

3. Be able to manage a ceremony.

3.1. Demonstrate appropriate techniques to manage speakers at a ceremony.

Consider:

• Techniques for pre-preparing speakers
• Positioning of speakers both while speaking and while sitting
• Cues for speakers
• Managing the Readings (delivery and format)
• A speaker who is over-running
• A speaker who is inappropriate
• Microphone usage

(Include a short discussion of ‘speaker management’ in your client interview video to be submitted)

3. Be able to demonstrate listening skills.

3.1. Demonstrate active listening skills.

3.2. Demonstrate body language appropriate to interviewing clients.

Submit a video role-play of a 30-minute interview with a client

7.1. Demonstrate appropriate techniques for closing interviews.

Show how you bring the interview to a close.
